Karl Jonas Alaama

Karl Joonas Alamaa he/they (2000) is an Estonian artist and designer, who has studied fashion at the Estonian Academy of Arts and acquired their Master’s in costume design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. Alamaa is interested in the mundanity of the human, compassion, social power structures and storytelling. Working with and archiving memories is fundamental to their research practice. In their work, they deal with the dissection and contestation of social constructions, including the interrelationship between gender, society and the body. It is often characteristic of them to approach topics through sensitive and controversial angles of Estonian and Eastern-European recent history. Although working with different cultural pain points, their work does not lack subtle humour. Alamaa is a laureate of the Mathilde Horlait-Dapsens Prize, JAT Prize, Eduard Wiiralt Stipend and a nominee for Silver Needle 2021 and 2024.

Wout Van Ackere

Wout Van Ackere is currently exploring his passion for art during his master's program at Sint Lucas in Antwerp.

His work challenges the viewer to pause and reflect on the tree, encouraging them to look beyond its beauty or utility. This project is a quest for hidden stories and forgotten perspectives through which we relate to a tree. It aims to honor the tree as it deserves and to invite the viewer to reflect on the multitude of meanings the tree holds.
