Gor Hovhannisyan
Gor Hovhannisyan (1996°) is an Antwerp-based printmaker and sculptor.
His practice is driven by the tension between science and mysticism,
between knowing and not-knowing. At the basis of every work is always a
question. After a thorough and often meandering research process these
questions are externalized and given physical form. These ‘embodied
conclusions’ often take the shape of a whole made up of many different
fragments, suggesting an absence of finality. As if at any point the research
could be continued and the work expanded upon, or the fragments
rearranged in order to gain a new perspective on the subject.
His practice attests to a highly sensitive treatment of the used materials. A
palette of sober materials like unbaked impure clay, lined and quad paper,
greyboard, human hair and red wine is used to corporealize
