Hannes Dünnebier (*1997 in Bavaria, DE) lives and works in Antwerp. He studied Fine Art at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and at the Bauhaus University Weimar, where he graduated in 2022. In 2023 he completed master studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.
At the centre of Hannes Dünnebier's artistic practice is the medium of drawing and its extension into the exhibition space. In his large-format, often gloomy graphite drawings, Hannes Dünnebier explores possible attitudes to various challenges of human existence. The conflict between ideal concepts and self-experienced reality is a recurring theme in his work.
As a continuation of his drawing practice, Hannes Dünnebier developed a series of hand-stitched textile objects made from raw cotton fabric, which he shapes and manipulates to create works that explore cloth and clothing as psychological metaphors for the body.
