Life is Art Gallery

Presenting

Ji-Eun Lee

Ji-Eun Lee recently graduated from the MA Fashion Design course at the Royal
Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in 2024. Her graduation collection, titled 'You Can Sit With Us,' is a reflection of her childhood memories. At the age of 16, she moved to New Zealand and began attending school. As one of the few Asians in her class and struggling with English, she often felt like an outsider. During this period, she discovered the unifying power of 'uniforms,' which provided her with comfort despite diverse backgrounds and ignited her fascination with preppy and Ivy League looks. The collection is also intertwined with her time in Antwerp and symbolizes her gratitude for the friendships and love of those who have always supported her. It represents her liberation from childhood traumas, demonstrating that she can connect with people she loves, even without uniforms, speaking the same language, or belonging to the same race.

Lauranne Verreydt

Lauranne Verreydt is a belgian artist, her work is inspired by natural elements.
Getting back to her intuitive nature and visualizing her own rituals. A tactile
journey away from distractions. Slow down while finding your center, not as a
religion but as a practice. The rituals that she performs and visualizes act as
anchor points of rest and contemplation. These rituals, captured in the clay
and canvas, carry with them the energy of their creative process.

Iris Plu

Iris Plu (22, BE) is a multidisciplinary artist who combines sculpture, video and modern technologies.

Her work explores the objectification of women in public spaces. By combining classical materials such as plaster with contemporary media such as iPads, she creates a dialogue between past and present.

Personal experiences are central to her  sculptures, which highlight the complexity of female objectification and invite reflection. With an eye for craftsmanship and symbolism, such as the bright red nails as a sign of strength and femininity, Iris invites a renewed look a how gender and public space are intertwined.
